Understanding the Name, the People, and the Mission.

At the United People of Yoruba, we stand deeply rooted in our heritage while boldly advancing toward the future. Our strength lies in adaptability, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. To understand who we are begins with the understanding of our name. The name Yorùbá comes the word Yèyé (Mother/Birth/Peace) Olórí (Supreme Head Queen/Love, Night)-(Olú Orí, Olú Òru, Oló Òrun, Olú Ọ̀rọ̀, Olú Oro) and Ọba (King, Light, Leadership), the ying yang (Yèyé/Hèhè) of nature. The letter "Y" in the name Y'Orùbá is silent, which is pronounced as Horùbá. Y= U+I (NI), Ni is the "I am". The name simply means the people of King of kings, Lord of lords of the land where the sun rises and sets. The people of the central/Middle kingdom, the people of the true Nor'th/The Ọọ̀'Ni, the people of the source of Abá’Òtù Ufẹ̀/Uhe, the very source of all Abá’ntú tribes.

We are the people of Ọba, Ìbà, and Abá. Ìbo'Òrí, Ìbà’Òrì, Ìbà’Òru, Ìbà’Ọrun. Ìbà’Ará’Abá’Ìmọ̀lẹ̀. Ìbà’Bàbá, Ìbà’Yèyé, Ìbà’Irúnmọlẹ̀, Ìbà’Òrìṣà, Ìbà’Olorí Ọba gbogbo, Ìbà’Ọlọ̀run.

Today, the Yoruba people are a universal people. Our identity transcends geography, and our unity is bound by blood, mindfulness, consciousness and by purpose. And as time moves forward, so must our convictions.

A new moment has arrived. A time not only to look outward, but to look inward. That is why we created this platform, a space where intellectuals, creatives, visionaries, lovers of justices and everyday builders can collaborate, contribute, and co-create the next chapter of the Yoruba (Horuba) renaissance, just as our forebears did in the past.

Here, we find strength in shared values and collective action. We connect as allies across the globe, building an intentional online nation grounded in cultural restoration and strategic progress.

This is a space not only for learning, but for building. With more than 100 million Yoruba people worldwide, the urgency for a unified platform has never been greater, one that provides access to knowledge, resources, and reconnection with our roots.

We are an ancient, universal nation composed of many tribes, clans, and lineages from Africa, the Americas, and beyond. This platform welcomes all potential Yoruba people seeking to reclaim their heritage and redefine their identity in the modern world. Building a true home for our people is a must.

The road to freedom is filled with many challenges, and it demands a well defined steps.

PROJECT 2027

The Yoruba flag tells a story of our very foundation and future. The red represents the fire (Iná/Inó) that forged humanity. Blue represents the water (Omi/Omí'ìrì) that birthed us. Yellow represents the light (Ìmọ̀lẹ̀) that governs our day, and black represents melanin (Odù/Udù), the source, and the night (Alẹ́), as we look up at the stars above our beautiful world. Green represents agriculture (Oko/Ogo), the occupation of our ancestral land. It is more than a flag; it is who we are.
